His Grace, Bishop Cyprian of Oreoi was born in Byrona (Vyrona), Attica, Greece, in the year 1948.
A graduate of the Economics Lyceum, in 1966 His Grace enrolled in the Athens University of Economics (Greece's premier institution of economic studies). He did not complete his studies, having decided to dedicate himself, at the age of nineteen, to the Holy Monastery of Sts. Cyprian and Justina.
He completed his monastic and theological training at the Monastery of his repentance, distinguishing himself by his theological erudition, intellectual brilliance, and spiritual depth and diligence. He was also awarded the Licentiate in Orthodox Theological Studies, with distinction, by the Center for Traditionalist Orthodox Studies at the St. Gregory Palamas Monastery in Etna, CA, a dependency of the Monastery in Phyle.
Bishop Cyprian has served as Confessor for the Monastery Brotherhood, Chancellor of the Holy Metropolis of Oropos and Phyle, and Secretary of the Holy Synod in Resistance.
His Grace, a superb writer, has also been active in the publishing, pastoral, and anti-heretical endeavors of the Monastery and Holy Synod, authoring numerous articles and studies on a wide range of theological, historical, and other topics, including countless very sober theological studies centered on the appraisal and critique of the heresy of ecumenism.
Several of his books have appeared in English translation, and he has frequently appeared on Greek national television, speaking as an expert on the history and nature of the ecumenical movement. The official website of the Holy Synod in Resistance also features many of His Grace's studies and commentaries.
His Grace was Consecrated to the Episcopacy on October 6, 2007 (Church [Old] Calendar), and forthwith unanimously appointed to the position of Acting President of the Holy Synod In Resistance, owing to the ill health of His Eminence, Metropolitan Cyprian, President of the Synod.
